It's 94 degrees here - too hot to even go for a walk, but with dogs, you have no choice!  They love their daily walks.  My best suggestion is to do your long walks early in the day or after the sun has started to set.  The hottest time of day with the strongest sun is 12-4 PM, so try for earlier or later if you can.  We do our daily walk around 7-8 PM and it's perfect!

Another great way to keep your dog cool is with frozen treats!  If your dog has no problems with dairy, you can get doggie ice cream treats for them at most grocery stores.  Or, you can make yummy treats at home for them!  I'd always prefer to go the homemade route.  Pinterest is a great source for recipes.  My favorite that I've found so far is the Frozen Peanut Butter & Banana dog treats.

I posted this today on our facebook & twitter page.  Let me know if you try it, and how it turns out!  In honor of National Ice Cream month, it's worth a shot to give your dog a frozen treat.  =-)

Here is the recipe posted on the bunnyroobeagle.com website:

Ingredients:
Three 6 ounce Containers of Plain, Low-Fat Yogurt
1/2 Cup of Peanut Butter (Low Sodium)
1 Four Ounce Jar of Banana Baby Food
1 Tablespoon of Honey
Directions:
In a medium bowl, combine all ingredients. Blend
well. Pour mixutre into small cups (I used Dixie
Cups). Place dog bone in mixture (to serve as the
handle). Freeze. Once frozen, peel away paper cup
and serve! Yummy!
